Editor’s Scribbles

Hello fellow Chasers new and current,

Happiness is when another Friday rolls around, I’m sure you’d agree. The other thing to rejoice is that we’re finally getting cooler weather because of the heavy afternoon showers we’ve been getting. So our nights are much cooler, to the point of being cold even.

Imagine I haven’t used my blanket in years and now I have to go dig it up from the back of my closet. Isn’t this really something??

These are the last few days of our Summer Advertising Special where you get a 30-day text link featured on one of our blogs for free when you order 2 solos from either of our ezines.

Take a look at the sidebar of our business blog and our better living blog if you’re looking for affordable link love. You’ll notice an orange box where you can get your link on our TopSpot for a mere $10.

Your TopSpot link stays up until it gets bumped off the list when more people buy up spots. So your link could be up for an unlimited time. If you haven’t tried it before, give it a shot. See what it looks like on our business blog and better living blog.

on Gimme A Break, my better living blog

Thanks for staying with us. Hope you have a great weekend. See you next Friday 2_smile04.

7 Positive Attitude Tips For Blue Days

by Sharon Langford

Do you ever have those 'blue days'... Nothing feels right, nothing goes right - and the harder you try the worse it seems to get? Positive thinking just sucks on days like these.

So how do you keep going when sticking a false smile on your face and stating positive mantras through gritted teeth just aren't helping?

In my experience, getting through these type of days can be helped by:

  1. Letting it happen: don't fight it, avoid trying to be happy, just acknowledge that today is not a good day. Give yourself permission to feel low and blue. Retreating and taking 'time out' for you is a positive action, whatever other people may say.

  2. Seek amusement: seek out films, plays, music which take little energy and just amuse you. Lose yourself in some comedy on your MP3 player or read some funny stories. Find something which distracts you and takes you away from the blue thoughts.

  3. Do some exercise: though make sure it's exercise which works for you, 40 minutes on a treadmill doesn't engage me, however a 30 minute walk in the country or park does the trick. Find your favourite.

  4. Indulge yourself: do something indulgent which you enjoy - take time to chill in a luxurious bath, go somewhere you find relaxing, beautiful and inspiring or give yourself a 'food treat'...chocolate, a wonderful glass of your favourite wine (just the one!) or cook your favourite meal. Blue days are not days for denial.

  5. Choose wisely who you spend time with: if you've arranged to spend time with people who you know will drag you further down, then put them off. Know what you need and choose the people who will be empathetic - statements like: 'cheer up, it might never happen' in my experience just don't work. Introverts are less likely to seek people out anyway, if you're an extrovert you'll know exactly what sort of people and situations you need to be in on a blue day.

  6. Avoid doing things you don't enjoy: a blue day isn't the day to do your accounts or sort out your filing; unless they are tasks which you enjoy. If you're at work, take a moment to plan your day, work out what really must be done that day do it, then indulge in activities which you enjoy.

  7. Another day: in the words of Scarlet O'Hara in 'Gone with the Wind' remember that 'tomorrow is another day'. Remind yourself that just because today has been 'blue' doesn't mean that tomorrow will be.
