So let’s forget about that and think happy thoughts. Cook something nice for the family this weekend, watch a movie you’ve been putting off, get out into the sunshine (not much here, only haze!) and do some exercise.

Stress - 7 Tips on How to Use it in a Positive Way

Even though stress creates negative feelings, it does not have to be a bad thing. If we are conscious of it, stress can be used in a positive way. What follows are seven tips on how to do just that.

Tip 1 - Use stress as a warning signal. You know that things may be getting out of your control when you start feeling stressed out; this allows you to course correct.

Tip 2 - Stress can be a great positive motivator. Nobody likes feeling stressed out; it therefore stands to reason that you can use it as motivation to remove that stress from your life.


Tip 3 - Stress can indicate it is time for a break. In today's busy society, it is easy to allow yourself to take on too much. Stress can be a good indicator that enough is enough, recognize that it may be time for some much needed R&R.

Tip 4 - Stress provides an opportunity for change. Obviously, overwhelming stress means something in your life is not working. It is time to figure out what is wrong and fix it.

Tip 5 - Your stress may be caused by a fear that you are facing. Sometimes the best way to eliminate that stress is to face that fear head on and conquer. You will rid yourself of the fear and the stress and experience great personal growth at the same time.


Tip 6 - Stress can provide clarity through contrast. If you know what is causing the negative stress, you can identify what it is that you do not want in your life. You can then get clarity on what you do want by looking for the contrast.

Tip 7 - Be grateful for the stress in your life. This last one would sound a little ridiculous if you had not read the first six tips. The reality is stress is one way your body and your mind communicate with you that something is wrong. If you did not experience a certain amount of stress in your life, it could be devastating to both your mental and physical health.
